Senior Project Officer
Orli Bass holds a PhD in Environmental and Geographical Science from the University of Cape Town. She previously obtained a BSc from the same institution and a BSc (Hons) from the University of Natal.
Orli has been a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Human Sciences Research Council. Prior to this, she lectured in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Orli is interested in the relationships between cities and culture; postcolonialism, creolisation and identity; site-specific performance, cultural strategies and culture-led urban regeneration; African identity and urbanity; representations of Africa and its cities; and mega-events.
She is a co-editor of the book, Development and Dreams: The Urban Legacy of the 2010 Football World Cup (2009, HSRC Press).
